Wiregrass Archery is committed to providing excellent products, but our main focus is customer service. Everyone at Wiregrass Archery wants to make every customer realize they are a part of the Archery Community. It does not matter which bow you shoot, how long you have been shooting, what awards you have, which arrows you use, or who you know. If you love to fling an arrow, then you’re one of us. Wiregrass Archery is committed to giving back to the community. We're dedicated to helping our youth gain an appreciation for a sport and hobby that is both fun and a life experience.
Michael "Rooster" Helgeson experience comes from 25 years in archery and doing all his own work as well as working part time during his military service at several archery stores across the nation for the last 18 years. Michael made a commitment to start his own store because he noticed a shift in the archery community, away from a family atmosphere, to a "make money and get them out the door" atmosphere. When Michael was growing up in Colorado, his family frequented the local archery store. It was a
community thing; people from all walks of life got together, shot their bows, talked about hunting, and had a good time. They had leagues where shooters could win bragging rights along with a small pot of money at times, but the best thing was how the entire family was there and everyone had a great time. Michael wants to see that
again. He wants to see a place where it's not about the bow name or price you paid; it's about being an archer and improving your skill. It's not about who got the biggest deer, but how everyone is enjoying the lifestyle of being a bow hunter.
Dr. Sandra "Marcy" Helgeson is a high school teacher, college instructor, and volunteer with several organizations. Marcy was born and raised in the wiregrass area (Coffee Springs). Marcy is new to archery, but loves the community and the idea of giving young kids something productive to do with their time besides playing video games. She will help build and expand on our training and classes as well as keeping Wiregrass Archery involved in the community.
We are privileged and honored to be the Hunters Helping Soldiers Alabama Chapter Headquarters. |
Recently (in 2010) Wiregrass Archery was chosen to be the Alabama Chapter of Hunters Helping Soldiers. This wonderful organization is focused on providing a life altering experience by taking wounded soldiers and the family members of fallen soldiers on hunting trips. This is a new organization, but has so much potential. For everyone who remembers their first good hunting experience, it really is a great treat for someone who may need a pick-me-up. Wiregrass Archery will also be the meeting location for the Coffee County Chapter of Bowhunters of Alabama. If you're interested in joining the Coffee County BHA, please click
